A visit at the Computer Museum of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava

The tour was personally conducted by Dr. Martin Sperka, Head of the Museum, and offered a fascinating journey through Slovakia’s computing history from 1960 to 1989. Among the highlights of the visit were the original Soviet computer on which the legendary Tetris was developed and the very first TV game console produced in Slovakia.

This meeting opened the door for future collaborations between the two institutions, including potential artifact exchanges and joint initiatives to promote the technological and cultural heritage of video games in Europe.

The history preserved by the SAV Computer Museum is truly remarkable. Their work in documenting the evolution of computing and its societal impact is an inspiring example for us all.

This visit is part of the Video Games Museum’s ongoing effort to establish a dynamic European network of partnerships with museums, academic institutions, and cultural organizations worldwide.
